CIPPEC at the Global Female Leaders Summit in Berlin

Last Monday, Julia Pomares, CIPPEC’s Executive Director, gave a speech at the Global Female Leaders Summit, which is being held in Berlin, Germany. Pomares’s speech focused on the current situation in Argentina, its long-lasting structural challenges and the possibility that the transformation the country is undergoing might change the rules of the game in the region.

After briefly describing the main political, social and economic indicators, Pomares emphasized that, beyond these current trends, Argentina faces structural problems that need to be addressed, such as inequality, the juvenilization of poverty, and the fiscal imbalances between provinces, among others. ‘CIPPEC believes that these problems have become invisible, as they are usually taken for granted by political leaders’ she said.

The Global Female Leaders Summit brings together leaders from all over the world. The event covers a wide range of trending business topics, such as smart cities and mobility, Big Data, artificial intelligence and the future of employment, among others.

Apart from Pomares, the speakers line-up includes: Anne Berner, the Finnish Minister of Transportation; Béatrice Guillaume-Grabisch, the CEO of Nestle’s German branch; Janet Henry, Global Chief Economist at HSBC; Anthony Newstead, Coca-Cola’s Global Director of Strategic Innovation; and Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, a two-time-Academy-Award-winning, Pakistani documentary maker, among many other entrepreneurs, scholars and top executives from leading companies such as Google, SAP, Philips and KPMG.

The participants will work out their roadmap for shaping the future. To that end, they will first identify what changes must be made in public and private management around the world and what types of leaders are thus required. Then, they will explore ways of developing these leadership skills for the benefit of society.
